But at the same time they want to show the world, «Hey, look, world! We are. And we are many. And we are different. We want to have fun. Fun, fun, and only fun.» And when it comes to fun, they have no inhibitions. Because, as they themselves put it, they're different: they're no thugs, either skinhead or terrorist; they're no born-again sixty-eighters, always against one thing or the other but never quite clear about what they're for; they're no goody-goodies with candlelight processions and false alarms about the threat of war. No the young people of the nineties—they're horses of many different colors, so to speak. Just listen to their music, which some of you out there many think of as nothing but earsplitting noise—yes, truth to tell, the constant bass throb up and down the Ku'damm, the merciless boom-boom chaka-chaka boom known as techno, is not to everybody's liking—just listen to their music and you'll know these young people are in love with themselves and with chaos and all they really care about is boom-booming their way to ecstasy… "

*. آري شنوندگان عزيز! اين جوانان از زن و مرد كه از همه جا ... به اينجا آمده‌اند، كه اين‌گونه خيال‌پردازانه خود را آراسته‌اند، آن‌چه بيش از همه چيز، آن‌چه به‌طور قطعي خواهان آنند، صلح بر روي زمين است! اما در عين حال مي‌خواهند به جهان بگويند: ببينيد ما هستيم. بسيار زياديم. ما از نوع ديگري هستيم. ديگر فقط تفريح. و اين تفريح را بي‌محابا براي خود فراهم مي‌كنند. چرا كه آن‌ها همان‌گونه كه گفتيم از نوع ديگري هستند، فتنه‌جويان چپ و راست نيستند، جانشينان شست‌و‌هشتي‌ها نيستند كه همواره مخالف چيزي بودند و هيچ‌گاه موافق چيزي نبودند، اما هم‌چنين از آن آدم‌هاي نيكويي هم نيستند كه ... با جيغ و فريادهاي ترس‌آلود و زنجيرهاي نور مي‌خواستند جنگ را تكفير كنند! نه، نسل جوان دهه‌ي نود تافته‌ي جدابافته‌اي است همانند موسيقي‌اش كه براي شما شنوندگان عزيز! احتمالا انكره‌الاصواتي است گوش‌آزار، چون من هم ـ‌البته نه با طيب خاطرـ بايد اذعان كنم كه اين صداي بم "و و و م م م و و و م م م" كه به آسمان مي‌رسد، اين "بوم بوم بوم" سنگ‌دل، اين "چا كا چا كا چا كا"، خلاصه آنچه تكنو ناميده مي‌شود مورد سليقه‌ي هر كسي نيست، اما اين نسل جوان كه ديوانه‌وار به خود و اين سرسام علاقه‌مند است مي‌خواهد وجودش را از اين سرسام سرشار كند و مسحوري را تجربه كند ...
